Movie Monday

Morning!!

I decided to take Lex's suggestion and turn Monday into Movie Monday. This week it works out perfect since my Man and I watched Unstoppable last night. We could have watched the Oscars but lets me honest once you've seen one award show this season you've seen them all. Black Swan, Kings Speech, The Fighter, etc.. Christian Bale will show up with a different verson of a homely beard and Natalie Portman will wear some cute pregnancy gown.

Anyway, back to business. Unstoppable. This movie was SO SO SO good. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it. I don't think it's possible to not like this movie. It had me on the edge my seat the entire time. Well not literally on the edge of my seat, that would uncomfortable.

Rent. This. Now.

What else did we do this weekend.. On Saturday we made our way to Urban Barn and bought two lamps for the living room..

One for the end table..

And one that stands alone..

These lamps are pretty modern, sleek and simple but what really sold us was the fact that all you have to do to turn them on is touch them. That's the part that got us excited enough to buy them. Touch, touch, touch. The icing on the cake was when Bailey turned the floor lamp on last night. Light and entertainment.

I also recently bought a couch and a love seat that have yet to arrive. My initial reaction when they told be they'd be here in 5 weeks was, "That's not going to work, I need them now." However, after the salesman asked me why I needed them so urgently and I couldn't come up with any other answer aside from because that's when I want them, I settled. Fine, I'll take them. Now unfortunately my wine taste on a beer income forced me to settle for "durablend leather". I don't know what durablend leather is, but I imagine it's a couch made out of low budge foreign materials posing as leather. I need a wine income.

Happy Bachelor Monday!!!!!!

Dreams

So how about the fact that I haven’t blogged in a couple days. Or the fact that my blogging really has gone done hill in the past few months. I’ve gotten lazy, taken days off here and there and they’ve gotten much shorter in length. Now if you’re anything like me you find this rude. I mean I have my blogs that I read daily and on the odd days that they don’t post I’m immediately unhappy. I’ve come ALL this way, typed in ALL those letters, PRESSED enter and NOTHING. ALL this way for NOTHING. Really it’s a compliment because it’s a part of my day I enjoy and it saddens me when it’s not there. However, my immaturity leads to a reaction more along the lines of, “how DARE you take away what little pleasures I HAVE.”

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I feel like an a*&hole when I don’t post anything. And I’m aware that I’m still an a@#hole when I post something that takes a maximum of 2 seconds to read. If only you were all ADHD. If only… BUT since you’re not and I don’t have a ton of things I put a large amount of effort into in my life I feel like I should dedicate some time to this. I should be good at something. And since I’ve exhausted a lot of other options like volleyball, basketball, chemistry, video games, cleaning, laundry, running, etc.. I might as well be good at blogging.

That being said I’m really going to try and not wait until quarter to nine to write out a post I intend on publishing at 9. I couldn’t think of another word, the use of publishing right there was inaccurate and made me sound really important. I like it though. I’ll keep it. SOLD. I’m a publisher on my very own online publication equipped with grammatical errors and outrageous use of the CAPS LOCK button.

I’m glad I got that off my chest. Speaking of chests I totally picked up the new Sports Illustrated yesterday. I LOVE the bathingsuits, LOVE the Jewerly, I LOVE this issue. THIS would be my dream job..

My Man thinks that Brooklyn is "by FAR" the chest looking, I mean best looking..

Personally, I prefer her..

Forewarning: The rest of this post is filled with Random Thoughts..

Random Thought #1

Remember when I bought a 60 dollar container of Spirilina? I know, I barely do either. Anyway, I've not got my Man drinking it so it doesn't go to waste.

Got Spirilina?

I don't know whether that should be an ad for Spirilina or an ad for a messy house. Got a messy house? Yes.

Random Thought #2

Recently my Man and I have watched..

Just Go With It

Due Date

Source

Annnnd Inception

Source

Just Go With It and Due Date were both cute and funny. I give them both 2 peanut butter covered thumbs up. Have you noticed I give most/all movies 2 thumbs? I like to be positive. I'm a bad critic.

I’m not sure what we were thinking when we rented Inception considering the fact that we both fell asleep within the first 5 minutes. So basically we typed in a password and paid 6 dollars to sleep. Sounds about right though, we would find a way to pay for the one free thing in life. I also managed to catch the key part in the beginning and the key part in the end. Just enough to ruin the movie. What are the odds?

Random Thought #3

Before I go I was also thinking in an attempt to make my blog more interesting I’m going to come up with theme days like food Friday (I’ll show you everything I ate the day before, new finds etc.. Oh SO exciting) and Wedding Wednesday (even though I won’t have anything to say because my wedding isn’t for a year and half. Just go with it..). That’s where it ended. I have no ideas for two T’s and an M. Suggestions? I know that's a rhetorical question since you guys never answer me, however, I continue to believe you're out there. What do we have if we don't have dreams? Rhetorical again.

6 Questions

1. How would you describe your style?

Classic, laid back and feminine depending on the day. It can also be sloppy and vintage. By vintage I mean old sloppy sweats and T’s. Day to day it’s usually a pair of skinny jeans with a neutral shirt dressed up with jewelry. When I’m going out I LOVE dresses, the shorter the better. They say you should only show one thing at a time, boobs or legs. Since I only have legs I go with those 100% of the time. For shoes I love boots, everything from Uggs to high heel and when I’m dressed up PUMPS.

2. What are your top beauty essentials?

Burts Bee’s Face Wash, Nars Blush in Orgasm, Lancome Definicils Mascara, Mac lipstick in Snob or and my concealer stick and powder from The Body Shop.

3. How would you spend a perfect day off?

My perfect day off would include a lunch date with a girlfriend followed by a matinee movie or shopping. Then supper out with my Man followed by more movies in our theatre basement in comfy clothes with the tiny terror. Re-reading that makes me feel lazy and gluttonous. I might also want to go rock climbing and snowboarding. Not likely though.

4. What would be your fantasy vacation?

At the moment, I think it would be Sicily, Italy. We could lounge on the beach, swim, shop, I’d fill up on seafood and he’d fill up on pasta, we’d visit vineyards and ride our bikes EVERY WHERE. I would love to see us pedal away from a day long wine tasting.

5. You’re hosting a fabulous dinner party and can invite five people (dead or alive, no family). Who?

Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Chelsea Handler, Pierre Trudeau and Goldie Hawn.

6. What would you have as your last meal?

I think I would have a grilled chicken pita with lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, sprouts and TONS of ranch followed by the peanut butter crepe from the Paris hotel in Las Vegas. Uhhh yup, that’s what I’d have. However, if I was IN Paris eating that crepe I might have an Earl’s Sandwich from Planet Hollywood over the Pita. Oh and I'd top it all off with a Crispy Cream donut. They'll have to roll me away from my last meal.

This past Saturday I attended a wedding shower for THIS beautiful bride to be..

Hosted by Lex and the extremely good looking wedding party..

LOOK at that spread..

Look. At. It.

Happy Bachelor Tuesday!!! I recorded it last night, but didn't get to watch it. Tonight is THE night!!

Beverly Hills

So we definitely didn’t see that movie last night. Unfortunately we have no excuse other than the fact that we’re a couple of 70 year olds who’d rather watch a movie in the comfort of their own home with their miniature dog. It’s true. We realized that we still wanted to see The Town and when we weighed the two options the condo castle home theatre won. We did, however, decide that we’d see the Just Go With It matinee on Sunday or Monday since it is a long weekend. You heard me, the matinee. I’ll have to try and remember our dentures so we can eat popcorn and Reeses bites.

Current Addiction

I watch it here and I can't get enough. Well actually I can, it only lets you watch an hours worth a day. I suppose this is for my own good anyway. The behavior I displayed when the episode stopped and was replaced with a sentence reading, "You have already watched 52 minutes of video. Please come back in 24 hours," was slightly reminiscent to that of an addict. What do you mean I can't watch anymore? Who are YOU to tell ME when I've watched enough? Okay, come JUST one more episode. Fine. Google Search: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episodes online - free. UGH NOTHING. Bullsh*@.

My favorites are definitely Lisa Vanderpump..

And Kyle Richards..

Source

Aside from a few million dollars, children, husbands and closets full of designer clothing I feel like we have a LOT in common. I swear you can tell a lot about a person based on who they'd choose as their favorite housewife. There are enough woman throughout the franchise that there has to be someone for everyone. I'm not going to lie, I'd judge your choice. Camille? Judging.

Anyway, I'm addicted to the entire franchise and I can't WAIT to find the Real Housewives of Miami online. That will be a good day. Until 52 minutes has passed.

Movie Reviews

Tonight my Man and I are going to brave the cold.. and the bed bugs.. and head to the theatre to see Just Go With It.

Source

Source

As with most movies, I'm basing my desire to see it solely on these four facts. One, Jennifer Aniston is pretty. Two, Brooklyn Decker is pretty. Three, the movie poster is pretty. And four, Adam Sandler is.. Well.. Adam Sandler. Story line? Meh, that's just an added bonus. I'm visual.

That being said, for the first time ever I decided to check out what kind of reviews its been getting online. I only did this so I might know what to expect when the movie is over and I'm left with my Man who will likely be asking me, "WHY did we come to this one again?" Because overall it's pretty, okay. That's why.

Anyway, Cinemaclock the movie has received NINETY NINE reviews with an average of 8.2 stars out of 10. I definitely believe the opinions of ninety nine average citizens over an unhappy movie critic because let's be honest, as soon as something you're passionate about becomes your job it starts to suck. Movie critics hate movies. I would never ask a meatpacking assembly line worker which animal he most enjoys disassembling. I don't think he could accurately state which animal is in fact the most fun.

Happy almost FRIDAY!!!

Vote

Remember last week when I told you guys that Lex strong armed me into entering her engagement photo session contest? Me too. Well now we're finalists and it's time to vote. I'll take pity votes, half-hearted votes and I-black-mailed-you-into-it votes. I don't discriminate. All votes are welcome. I don't need to win, I just need to appear as though I have SOME friends. You can vote here by first "liking" the Old, New, Borrowed & Blue wedding group and then "liking" our story.

Do you want to know how my Man and I found out that you have to "like" the group Old, New, Borrowed & Blue in order to vote? I'll tell you. We logged on to his brother's facebook account to vote for ourselves. YES we did. I told you I'd take any vote I can get.

When you get to the page look for this collage..

So how about the Bachelor last night? I really enjoyed the part when Brad told Michelle she's volatile. It was at that moment that the TV could have used subtitles for translation. "It scares me that we are too much alike. You're volatile." Translation: "I want to send you home. You're CRAZY."

So crazy that Brad new enough to say, "You're not going to let me grab your hand are you?" No. She. Isn't.

On the surface...

I'd now like to take the opportunity to say that if something happens and Brad and Emily don't end up together living happily ever after in a castle with 3 more little Ricky's running around.. I want him to choose Ashley..

Now, before I go, PLEASE start today with this in mind...

No Title

I couldn't think of a title, so I went with No Title. Anyway, it's Monday!!! Who's excited?? No one. Just what I thought. Week days are like the bottoms of muffins and weekends are like the tops. You only want the weekend. You just want to throw week days out, hide them and try to pretend like they were never there. But they were. they are.

What'd I do this weekend?

Saturday night I had an engagement party for this lovely lady in the middle..

I snapped a few more pictures..

Sunday I went for Brunch with all my ladies aka my Mom, Grandma and my PREGNANT Sister. That's right, she's pregnant. How exciting is that?? I am thrilled. Even though I don't particularly like other people's children I have a feeling I might warm up to this one. If not, it might be cause for concern.

Since my Sister is pregnant I ate for two. This brunch came in courses. Course one being cinnamon buns, muffins and banana bread. Yes please. Course two, a LARGE slice of quiche (I had the seafood quiche) with a side salad (why?). And lastly, course number three which was yogurt, granola, honey and mixed fruit. So much food, so little self control. I was literally having hot flashes somewhere in and around the second course.

In the afternoon my Man and I watched Piranha 3D, not in 3D. I feel like they should have left the 3D out of the title. Anyway, I should be embarrassed that we rented this but I'm not. It's been so long since they've come out with a shark attack movie that I have no choice but to settle for piranha's. Do I recommend this movie? No. Unless you're a serial rapist/murderer. Just saying. Anyone who enjoys seeing that much blood and boobs in the same film should be examined.

Or we could take To Catch a Predator to whole new level. Who liked Piranha 3D? Follow me please.. Into JAIL..

Want to see what I'm eating for breakfast this morning? Okay.

3/4 cup of Egg Whites, Mushrooms, Onion, Broccoli, Spinach, Hot Sauce and Daiya Cheese.

Annnnd is it Valentines Day? Look what happens when you put a ring on it. Maybe i'll pull through and cook us something nice for supper. So far our Valentines day plans are to watch The Bachelor. I like'em.

NWL

So I forgot to mention earlier in the week that I had a fashion show last night. Minor details, no? This particular fashion show has brought to light the fact that I've been writing/posting on this blog for one WHOLE year. I STUCK to something for one WHOLE year. (cue clapping)

Now this is where I was going to link back to last year's post when I did this same fashion show, however, I got bored trying to find it and quit. Someone once said that the only thing worse than a quitter is someone who is afraid to begin. SO least I'm not dead last on the success/achiever hierarchy.

Anyway, for once I took LOTS of pictures so I could make my blog post extra pretty today. This year the show was held at the RCMP Heritage Centre. For those of you in the US that's code for Royal Canadian Mountie Police Museum. The museum might be boring but the building is gorgeous and the event was perfect. Here's a clip..

NWL Runway Event from Preston Kanak on Vimeo.

And HERE are MY pictures, much less professional than that video but taken with you in mind. You're welcome.

Couldn't help myself..

Backstage..

After Party...

Lastly, I ended the night where I always do after a fashion show or photoshoot.. Taking a super nerdy self portrait of my hair and make-up in the condo castle kitchen... Yeah I did..
