"FML I have to go to the gym later."
"Is it REALLY necessary. I mean REALLY?"
"I hope someone makes a fake threat, pulls the fire alarm and the gym has to close. What? I can't go. And I had nothing to do with it."
Anyway, I'm done. FREEDOM.
SO yesterday I spent the morning working and pretending to be a grownup. Then I took my Grandma for lunch to the 13th Ave Coffee House.
We both got the Power Salads..

Weeds, Sprouts, Red Pepper, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Chickpeas, Tofu, Shredded Carrots, Cilantro Lime Dressing.. This beast of a salad is SO good. This is saying a lot since I'm not a salad girl.
My Grandma is one of the funnest (fake word) women I know. We decided to coordinate our outfits for lunch..

JUST kidding, that was the two of us rocking our toilet paper wedding gowns at my Sister's stagette.
I'm SO SO SO passionate about this book. I truly I am. I'm also aware that I've been a semi-vegetarian for over a year now and I've gradually made a lot of healthy changes. That being said, this book would definitely be a little harsh for a coffee guzzling meat lover who enjoys a cocktail, or 10. It does however embrace making small changes that will benefit your health. You've got to start somewhere!
On Monday I'm going to start the 21 day cleanse. This isn't the kind of cleanse you're probably thinking of, it's more of 21 days of being really healthy. No coffee, booze, gluten or sugar. Now I know that sounds restrictive and boring but it really isn't. I can eat all the veggies, hummus, socca, black bean brownies, zucchini noodles, olive oil, raw almond butter, tea and sludge I want. It's basically eating vegan and incorporating some raw foods where you can. She also wants you to drink green juice or a smoothie for breakfast, "liquids until lunch". Not me though. Technically Sludge is like a smoothie in food form so that's as close as I'll get. I can't drink my breakfast, are you nuts?
Another guideline in the cleanse is to stop eating 3 hours before bed. Mmmm not likely, but I'm willing to stop eating AFTER I'm in bed. No waking up and having snacks. I've been slowly weaning myself off of this for the past week and half. I've also for the most part been eating like this already and feeling GREAT, which is why I decided to do the cleanse. I have more energy, I'm happier, my mind is clearer and my nails CRAZY. They're HARD and are noticeably longer. I actually have to cut them for the first time in.. Well ever. Normally they just break off and there's no need.
The part I love about the cleanse is the meditating and the fulfilling lifestyle the book encourages. I think there are about 20 questions you have to answer daily like, did you abstain from coffee? Did you tell someone you loved them? Did you laugh? Did you abstain from animal products? etc... It's not about answering yes to all of them though, it's about doing whatcha can. I'll answer those questions daily on here. I feel like it might be entertaining.
ANYWAY, if you haven't noticed I think you should buy the book.
So last night since my Man had hockey I caught up on my Tivo'd America's Next Top Model episode and finally decided on my favorite girl...

Sadly for Monique, my favorites never win. Luckily, it's usually because they're too pretty.
Before I go here is the link the AMAZING flavored Olive Oil my Mom got me in Arizona. You can order it online and they even ship to Canada. This stuff is out of this world and if you order some you won't regret it. My Mom's the BEST cook. If she says you have to have it, you have to have it.
Happy Friday!!
good for you girl! Proud of you for making it to gym this morning! I could NEVER! But I love my lunch time work outs!! :) 4 times this week and it feels AMAZING to be back to the gym. I love it once I am there... its just getting there that can be the tough part! Look at you eating all healthy! Can you post some of your recipes? Like the black bean brownies (sound to die for since they are healthy AND BROWNIES?)
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!! You're going to love it! My hair, nails and skin are all the healthiest they've been in my entire life. There's a lot to be said for eating all those vegetables...
