With Valentine’s Day just around the corner and a ton of newly engaged couples fresh from the holidays, we thought this would be the absolute perfect time to offer an adorable styled engagement session photographed by Laurie Ann Photography and planned by Old, New, Borrowed & Blue Wedding and Event Planning. All you have to do is submit your love story (or engagement story) with a picture of yourselves that depicts who you are as a couple, why you would love to win this, as well as your wedding date.
Annnnnnd here is our story....
So you want to hear my romantic love story do you? I guess if we’re going to go back to the very beginning then it all started on one sunny Monday afternoon at Riffel High School. Was it actually sunny? A Monday or an afternoon? Not likely. I was a cute grade 9 (I think) and Justin was grade 12 stud (just ask him) so inevitably our paths crossed. Although we never dated in high school we did hang out from time to time at parties, friend’s houses etc..
Oddly enough whether it was because we actually went together, just ended up at the same place or through mutual friends, Justin was there for all my pivotal high school moments. My first may long camping trip, my first (and a few more after that) underage bar adventure and my graduation. You know all the important stuff. I was also there for all of his pivotal high school moments. Principal office visits/permanent residence, sliding down the 30 foot common area pole, and being the only student to ever be suspended by the school janitor.
In the summer of 2007 we were reunited by 20/44 (now the Drink) and Dewdney Avenue. As I was looking for a cab I spotted him in his car. My Knight in shining armor, that was until he informed me that his car was full. The next day he sent me a Facebook message saying he hoped I had gotten home safe and apologizing for not being able to give me a ride. From there we messaged back and forth and made plans to see each other on several occasions. I think I really won him over when we met up at the Beach Bar on Canada day and I tried to out drink everyone in attendance. If he thought that was the last time he was going to see me get carried out of the bar, jokes on him.
Our relationship evolved pretty quickly given our history, chemistry and our similar sense of humor. When summer ended he told me he was going to work in the oil field in Estevan for a few months. As I sat there wanting to tell him that Estevan is stupid and that everyone who moves there is stupid I knew REALLY liked him. We did the long distance thing for 6 months, talking on the phone every night and seeing each other on the weekends and it didn’t take long before I was telling my friends, “as long as he doesn’t do anything to screw it up, I’m going to marry him.” We’ve been together for 3 plus years now, lived together for 2 plus and have one badly behaved Silky Terrier. In my eyes our life is perfect.
On December 24th, 2010 he popped the question in the cutest way I can think of. Growing up the 24th of December was his favorite day of the year as it was the day they celebrated Christmas at his late Grandma’s house. Now he wanted to make it his favorite day for a new reason. With the help of scotch tape, a money Christmas card, some 5 dollars bills and the most heartfelt written paragraph I’ve ever read, his proposal had “us” written all over it. I wouldn’t change one thing about it. My favorite part, after the tears, kisses and hugs was when he said, “I’m going to need those fives back; I spent all my money on the ring.”
And then I attached these pictures..

Annnnnnd this one... JUST kidding..
