Food Inc.

I woke up BRIGHT and early yesterday morning. Well dark and early but that’s a minor detail. I hit up the gym for ride at 6:00AM. The mic in the ride room is currently broken which means the instructors have to talk loudly or in some cases yell. The instructor today just yelled everything and I was jealous. It’s not very often that you get to yell at people, encouraging things anyway, and it looked like fun.

I know I’ve mentioned that I like Ride class before, but here’s a little Spinning 101 to hopefully sway you into trying it. (Taken from http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/diet-fitness/spinning-101.html)

The Scoop on Spinning
Spinning was created by world-class cyclist "Jonny G." Goldberg as a convenient and quick way to train for races. In 1989, he and John Baudhuin opened the first spinning center in Santa Monica, California and then developed a program to certify other spinning instructors. Curious to know about this spinning thing? The following info will help you decide if it's for you:

What is it? Spinning is an aerobic exercise that takes place on a specially designed stationary bicycle called (obviously enough) a spinning bike. As you pedal, motivating music plays and the instructor talks you through a visualization of an outdoor cycling workout: "You're going up a long hill now, you can't see the top yet.…" During the class you vary your pace -- sometimes pedaling as fast as you can, other times cranking up the tension and pedaling slowly from a standing position. This helps you to focus inwardly and work on your mind as well as your body.

Why we love it: Spinning burns serious calories (about 450 in 45 minutes) and offers an awesome aerobic workout that makes your heart pump fast. It also tones your quadriceps (front thigh muscles) and outer thigh muscles like nobody's business! Because you stay in one place with the same basic movement throughout, Spinning doesn't involve a lot of coordination; it's easier to concentrate on your form than in other types of aerobic classes. And although you follow the general instructions of the spinning teacher, you are in control when it comes to your pace. You can finish a spin class, regardless of your fitness level, simply by adjusting your pace or the tension knob on the bike.

After Ride I sampled my new Protein Powder:

½ scoop of new muscle food. I’m not crazy for chocolate so the Vanilla is still my Fav.

Breakfast:

Yummy. 1/3 cups Oats, tbsp Almond Butter, ½ smashed Banana, tsp Maca powder, Cinnamon and drizzled with Agave for my sweet tooth.

Around 11:00 I was a little bit hungry, but since I was driving around picking stuff up for work I had to have my fig sans PB and sans picture.

Lunch

One wedged acorn squash. At first I thought I might only eat half and save the other half for my man, but then I realized sharing is caring and caring is for fools. I was going to need that whole squash. I had it with smoked tempeh, now this tempeh was GOOD. My first experience with tempeh was the package I bought at Old (insert Fashion here) Foods, after tasting THIS smoked tempeh I’ve come to the conclusion that the other stuff was freezer burnt. They only throw the word Fashion in their name for esthetic purposes, it’s actually Old Food.

Tasty Package:

Sideways of course.

I've heard that you can eat the whole squash, skin and everyhing. I tried to but it was weird. I nuked these for umm 7 minutes? I had to since I was work. My man thinks microwaves are the devil. At home he always accuses me of microwaving his food.

I cut my Tempeh into strips so I could DIP.

Later in the afternoon my Mom treated my sister and I to THESE:

mmmm a Venti Zen Tea (that's funny)

When I got home from work I had some snacks before deciding on a Suppa..

Spin and Black Berries

Light Silken Tofu puddin. Half a package of light silken tofu blended with a little almond milk, tsp maca, cinnamon, drizzle agave and 1 tbsp Almond Butter.

I figured I needed some Green in my life, so for Suppa I had THIS:

Stir Fried Brocoli, Snow Peas, shredded carrots & cabbage (it was a bag of mixed veggies) with some Soy Sauce annnnnd a crumbled Amy's burger on top.

I took my supper downstairs to watch Food Inc. Verrrrry educational. I didn't know how to work the Max front Row (the purchase movies on your tv thing) So I accidentally bought it twice. Ooops.. HD and not HD version.. I watched HD.

When that was over I was ready for a snack of course and I couldn't WAIT to have this!!!

Almost EMPTY PB JAR:

I filled it with 2/3 cup of Smart Bran Psyllium and Almond Milk. I went to town.

Num

This stuff has 8 grams of fibre.

Annnnnnnd I was ready for bed cause it was 10:30 on a friday night and that's how I roll..

I woke up THREE am for a slice of pumpernickle and PB. I wonder when i'll stop doing that?
